As our operations grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accountant to manage our finances, ensure compliance, and support strategic decision-making through accurate reporting and financial insight.

 

Role Overview

 

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, managing budgets, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and generating reports that help the company maintain financial health and compliance. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to work independently in a creative and fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Financial Management & Bookkeeping

 

  • Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and journals in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Process and record accounts payable, accounts receivable, and ensure timely vendor and staff payments.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage petty cash, and perform monthly bank reconciliations.

 

Budgeting, Reporting & Compliance

 

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements for internal review.
  • Assist in developing budgets and financial forecasts; track spending against approved budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including PAYE, VAT, and company tax filings.

Internal Controls & Financial Support

 

  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
  • Support audits, grant reporting, and fundraising documentation with accurate financial data.
  • Collaborate with operations and leadership to provide financial insights for strategic planning.

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

 

  • Accuracy of Financial Records – Error-free and timely bookkeeping
  • Timeliness of Financial Reports – Delivery of monthly/quarterly reports
  • Budget Adherence – Monitoring and controlling spending within approved limits
  • Tax & Compliance Accuracy – Timely and accurate tax filings and statutory compliance
  • Cash Flow Management – Availability of funds and liquidity for daily operations
  • Audit Readiness – Quality of audit trails and documentation
  • Payment Timeliness – Prompt payment to vendors, staff, and partners
Qualifications

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
  • ICAN/ACCA part or full qualification is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Books) is essential.

Experience:

 

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Experience working with SMEs, creative businesses, publishing, or social enterprises is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Nigerian financial laws and practices.

Working Conditions

 

  • Role is based in Lekki
  • Core working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
